Clove



Local Name: Clove 
Scientific Name: Syzygium aromaticum, Eugenia aromaticum or Eugenia caryophyllata
Parts to be Used: The dried flower buds, oil



Common Uses

Internal Application
- Digestive problems, nausea ,eliminating excess gas in the stomach and the intestines, diarrhea ,hernia
- Cholera and insect borne diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis. colic,  anti-spasmodic,
- Alleviation of coughs and other problems of the respiratory system.

External Application
- Toothache
- Antiseptic properties
- Fungal infections such as athlete's foot
- Acne, skin ulcers, sores, repelling both mosquitoes and insects such as moths
- Aphrodisiac

Preparation

Clove can be taken with food as a seasoning.

For the antiseptic effect Soak 15 grams (1 teaspoon) in 1/2 cup alcohol and let stand for 4-5 hours. Apply the solution directly with cotton swab.

Cholera: 4 grams of cloves are boiled in 3 liters of water until half the water has evaporated. This water, taken in draughts

Asthma: A teaspoon of decoction prepared by boiling 6 cloves in 30 ml of water can be taken with honey 3- 4 times a day ­

Earache:
A clove sauteed in a teaspoon of coconut oil  ( til) oil and 3 to 5 drops of this (warm) oil put into the ear can cure earache.
