Uses
Internal Application
- Antiseptic, anti-catarrhal, febrifuge,and stimulant purgative.
- Ear, nose and throat problems, laryngitis, tonsillitis, as a wash for mouth ulcers, and a douche for leucorrhea
- Treat toothaches, pneumonia, tuberculosis and influenza
- Smallpox and externally as a cleansing wash, infection of upper respiratory tract, common cold, tonsillitis, stomatitis, inflammation of mucous membrane, fever, ointment for painless ulcers, inflamed nipples
External Application
- Root poultice used as an anti-inflammatory for skin diseases
Preparation
Decoction: 1 tablespoon roots to 1 cup water boiled for 10-15 minutes. Take 1 teaspoon three times daily.
The same can be prepared to wash wounds.
NB: This plant can be toxic, do not use unless under the supervision of a qualified trained practitioner.
